My early night means that I rise fresh and ready for anything(18 days to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
When I'm on my way to breakfast, I just have to step out on the balcony to admire the view in daylight. It doesn't disappoint:
After breakfast I decide to walk along the lake side to the conference centre.... This basically involves a 10 minute walk past the view of the alps. I later discover that what I'm marvelling at is actually in France... I'm not really sure why.. but that's pretty cool:
The view is so stunning that I manage to walk halfway past the venue before I realise I'm at the venue.... it's not very lively... even for a sunday morning... I walk round the building twice, but still can;t see and entrance.... eventually I try a door and realise it opens onto a lift. I head up in the lift and find myself in the kitchen.... in broken english/french/german/dutch I try to find out where I am.
Bonjour, ist deze place un Conference... I kind of put a french slant on it... They seem to understand and are quite amused.... I wander through and find myself at the right conference. My fears of ending up at "Knitting pattern design expo 2006" were unfounded...
The rest of the day is spent in meetings... the only excitement being that the main hall is callled the Miles Davis hall cos he played here during the Montreux Jazz festival. There's lots of music history here:
"We all came out to Montreux, on the lake geneva shoreline"
"To make records with the mobile, we didn't have much time"
"Frank Zappa and the mother's were at the best place around"
"But some stupid with a flare gun, burned the place to the ground"
1975.. the place is Montreux Casino.
Led Zeppelin recorded and played here... providing the track Bonzo's Montreux:
Queen recorded lots here:
oh yeah.... and phil collins lives up in the mountains somewhere, which as far as I'm concerned is the best place for him.
I have work to do in the evening.... so its another night in the hotel room....
