Casa de Иiña

The plan for the weekend is this....

I need to see my sister, my sister needs to see my grandmother, and I'd like to spend some time on the mountains..... So....

* Early saturday morning leave ayrshire with my sister and pick up The Cadet, Иine inch Иiña and Mowgli.
* Climb Mountain on way to my grandmothers
* Drop sister with Grandmother
* Weather depending... camp or stay in youth hostel - camp fire hilarity ensues
* Climb mountain in Glencoe region
* Pick up sister
* head home

There was a last minute change to this plan. Instead of starting out in Mauchline, we are going to attend a party at Иine inch Иiña. You may have gathered from the blog that both Иine inch Иiña, Mowgli and The Cadet are not strangers to the demon drink, and while knowing that it wouldn't be a great idea to go out the night before, the assurances given to me by everyone concerned meant that we went for a party anyway...

So.... Friday was spent making soup, rolls and packed lunches for everyone going mountain climbing, pakcing the car with enough equipment for every eventuality(I honestly think we could have tackled everest with what was in the back of the car) and generally being the sensible adult should anyone not have enough clothes or anything...

By 5pm I'm up in Glasgow all togged up for a party. It's been a while since I was at a house party in Glasgow, or any house party at all come to that. I tend to hold most of the parties we have here in Amsterdam, and they are a far more subdued affair than the Dionysian worship which used to go on in a flat on Byres Road when we were students:

I didn't expect too much from this night, Иiña is a professional girl now, and her work colleagues will be suited well behaved people. When I arrive, I help get things ready.. while havign a couple of glasses of Red... The Cadet soon arrives and we get torn into talking about Иiña's book collection and the Led Zep that is on in the back ground....

This is such bad combination..

The Cadet - Enthusiastic Listener:

On the road - Put me in a hippy mood:

Led Zeppelin IV - one of my favourtie albums when I was a kid:

Red wine - My tongue loosening conversation tipple of choice:

This really is my favourite night, and anyone who knows me has probably been stuck in a situation where after two glasses of wine, I won't stop talking about music. The Cadet seems to survive intact, and by the time the Sushi arrives, I'm in a good mood and relaxing into the party:

Luckily(For anyone who has to sit beside me) the Led Zeppelin doesn't last forever and we get some 80's nostalgia with the Footloose soundtrack:

When Bonnie Tyler holding out for a hero comes on.... I comment that I remember this from Short Circuit 2:

I ask The Cadet if she's seen Short Circuit... She says no but that the music is also in Chip and Dale's adventures:

I break a wine glass on the table laughing....

By now, Mowgli has arrived with his crutched brother. On the phone when we are inviting them, we make lots of jokes about him Breakdancing to some early hip hop, but the biggest hilarity comes when they enter.... almost every woman in the room flocks towards mowgli's brother to ask him why he is in crutches. The mothering instinct overwhelms and he becomes the most popular guy in the room - maybe we should all invest in some crutches....

At one point The Cadet is feeding me sushi... She seems to have less experience of sushi than I first thought, as she decided to cover a california roll in wasabi paste before giving it to me:

By the time 3am come around, Mowgli, Иiña and I have had our fair share of our drug of choice:

Mowgli and Иiña are opening champagne as I leave with The Cadet, but they insist that they are up for climbing mountains tomorrow..... Only time will tell...
